Winter Care

The cold and chilly winter season, and heavy rains, can be a difficult time for our community animals, as they struggle to find adequate shelter and warm places to rest, compounded by their daily struggle to find food.

We placed ‘bora beds’ for our dogs, which are beds made out of gunny bags, lined with plastic sheets, and filled with hay/ husk that keep the dogs and warm and comfortable through the harsh cold.

We also made them wear jackets, which are warm and waterproof, to keep them snug and cozy – although very often they end up tearing it amongst themselves while they play and run around!

Due to the heavy rains, many dogs are unable to find warm, dry places to find shelter, so we create a make-shift temporary shelter for our pack over a small grass patch, using plastic and tarpaulin sheets, and placed their bora beds inside. We hope they find comfort under this shelter through the cold wave and heavy rains!
